Gracemere Market Report 24/04/2024

GRACEMERE CATTLE SALE WEDNESDAY 24TH APRIL 2024

The Gracemere combined Agents seen another solid yarding with 3,482 head yarded, consisting of 1,886 Steers, 1,039 Heifers, 478 Cows, 21 Bulls and 58 Cows and Calves/PTIC. Good local rain ranging from 50mm to over 100mm seen a reduction in local cattle and a higher percentage of cattle drawn from a wider area with cattle from as far north as Townsville, west as Alpha and a far south as Gin Gin. The average price across all categories softened by 7 cents while the average weight increased with some great runs of Bullocks, cows and heavy feeders. Bulls and Bullocks kicked off the day with a small kick in the market compared to last week and while the cows will read dearer the average price kick is more related to the quality and weight of the cows on offer with some very good Brahman and crossbred cows presented. Feeder steers were firm to dearer while weaner steers softened today. In the heifers both weaner and slaughter heifers softened slightly while feeders again firm to better. In general, a good buyers panel was present and strong competition was seen on well sort after cattle.
